Is there really a difference between a HS Diploma and a GED anymore?

When a job requires a hs diploma or ged?

• ok, so im a graduated medical assistant. I am very aware that most jobs require a hs diploma or a ged, but unfortunally i dont have neither. I am gonna take the ged test october 11, so i am working on getting it. but my question is, when one of the requirements are hs diploma or ged, when you actually do to the interview do they ask for it? i had a job at a restaturant where they required it and i said i had it on my application but they never asked for it. also, my last job believe it or not as housekeeping in a hospital, i needed a hs diploma or ged, again i didnt have one and i said i graduated and a got the job, they didnt even ask for it. so, again my question is, is there a point in the hiring procedure where they ask me for it. i do have my medical assistant diploma.

  Normally no. I've never been asked for it. I think most people just assume that you have it or you wouldn't be applying in the first place.
