Do transfer credits count towards GPA?

How do universities count gpa?

  • I am currently in college, and I will be applying as a transfer student. Sat's are not required for transfer students so my only worry is my gpa. I have 4 C's, 4 A's and the rest are B's. do they look at the CUMULATIVE W/O NDA or with NDA? mine is 2.9 with nda, and 3.1 without. nda in my college is when they count all my classes from beginning to end, and without nda it's when they count only then ones that are required for transfer (for example i had English 20 which is the lowest English after ESL's, and they dont count that when they count it without nda. because English 20 is basically not a transfer course. so are they going to look at my gpa with only transferable courses? if so then they will count my 3.1 gpa. .....and another question, i'm going to apply to UC's in November, but I still have 18 units in session now, are they going to look at my current gpa or their going to count it after i finish this semester? I am taking 18 units to raise my gpa, i have 6 classes now and will have like 4-5 classes in Spring semester. I am applying for Fall 2011. If I get all A's this semester, 18 units of A, or maybe 1 or 2 B's and the rest A's, how much will it raise my gpa??? I really want to get into UCLA but I am very scared because of my gpa,, I've never thought of studying and getting into a good university before and that's why i'm struggling now :( do i have chances?

  • Answer:

I'm 99% sure they average your GPA. You get 4 points for an A, 3 points for a B, 2 for a C, and so on. It's no surprise yours is somewhere around 3.0 If you want to raise your GPA, get A's. I've have never seen anyone with a GPA of 4. (maybe it's possible for someone who took one class)
