What is film studies like?

Where can Film Studies at A level get you?

• I was thinking of the useless subjects offered at A-level in this country and I can't decide whether Film Studies is a subject that will get one somewhere with their career or if it was complete bogus like Sociology. Unfortunately, I don't have substantial evidence to decide either. Do you know what Film Studies teaches - apart from the obvious? How exactly does it teach the analysis the films? Do students have the opportunity to create their own mini-films? What Universities take liking to A-level Film Studies and which don't? Why? What University degree courses would picking it allow you to do? What careers would the subject help you achieve?

  i dont know where you're from or what you're learning, but sociology is not bogus. It is the study of human behavior and human interactions. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of things that we have learned BECAUSE of sociology. Its an important subject even if YOU don't see it, hundreds of thousands of people out there do. Film study teaches you everything you could ever want to know about films. The history, how their made, you study different directors and actors and things like that. its really only a relevent subject if you plan on being in the film business but it is a REALLY interesting course. Not to mention very easy (at least mine was.) It teaches you how to find the hidden meanings in different movies that you might not have caught on to before. You would really be surprised.
