What can i do to help my revision?
-
Im doing As level chemistry, biology, psychology and sociology. I did really well at GCSE more than i expected in some subjects and was happy with the result. i want to go on to do forensics and i really enjoy science but to get there i have to work hard. i have been at college since september and have exams on the second week of january. I understand the basics of all of my subjects but when i feel i try i am let down by a high expectation. All that i need help on is making sure i put down specific key words and going into detail a lot more. i have tried to make posters, they work but they take to long to make and i have loads more work to get through, ive tried revising with my boyfriend, it works for an hour but i get easily distracted. i cant think of another way that will make me understand and get it into my head to achieve high. i just need good revision techniques that might have worked for any of you lot. And if you had any similar problems, how did you get through them? P.S Good useful websites would be good if anyone knows any? Thanks, i really appreciate it :)

Answer:
OMAGOD I am in year 9 choosing my GCSE subjects and love science and i wanna be a forensic scientist aswell! I am trying to study with my exam for triple science as we are starting our GCSE'S early so like our year 9 end of year exam is on tuesday but I don't panic because I use these tips and feel alot more confident. I hope you do to and hope you find this piece of information useful. anyways with regards to your question the best thing to do is use SMART SPECIFIC: Don't have as your target: "Study Science for an hour". Instead have as your target, "Revise electricity on the Physics course – and sketch an answer to an exam question on energy in circuits". MEASURABLE: Measure your progress towards your goal. Use a revision checklist for each subject and tick off each topic as you study/revise it. In this way, you'll literally see your progress. ACTION-RELATED: Break down your study goal into a set of specific tasks: e.g. background reading of research material, draw up essay plan, complete writing of essay. Base each study session on tasks, not time. REALISTIC: Don't set goals you are unlikely to achieve. Make realistic demands on yourself, in consultation with teachers and guidance counsellors. Otherwise, you will quickly lose heart and lose interest. TIME-BASED: Avoid panic before a deadline. Always time your study tasks, working back from the deadline. If you have a test in three weeks time, set blocks of revision work for each of the three weeks. Oh and don't forget to state all the keywords at the beginning when you start your revision. Look in more AS books and get an idea of how they use their vocabulary and use it in a similar way. hen your thinking a sentence to write down think of how you could improve it or what type of scientific vocab you could put in it. Also make your revision colourful. REALLY colourful it helps your memory increase and you will remember it all. If you do find this information useful please do email me I would love to know how you got on. [email protected]
