Why do you think architecture is important?

Insight on Architecture and becoming an architect. What do you think?

• Hi everyone. I'm 18 and completely open to the possibilities and opportunities life has in store for me. I'm interested in a lot of career choices from business to entertainment, architecture to author. I recently graduated from high school, but decided to take a a semester/year off from school because, frankly, I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I'm very passionate about music... I love art... of all forms. Creativity and the notion of "creating" or "building/making" something fascinates me. But I also think of myself as a logical/analytical person. I've spend my summer, and most of fall questioning what I might want to pursue and I've been so curious but unsure of everything, until recently I looked into architecture again. My dream, of course, is to be a musician and making a living off of the music I write. However, that industry is extremely difficult to make money in. Having both a love for the creative and the "science" of creativity, i felt like architecture was the halfway point. Designing, but with logic. I've always been interested in architecture as a kid, but never looked much into it. I've been reading many forums and just random things online about architecture and it really is sparking my curiosity and general interest. However, I read that it is very tedious, rigorous, long..... and just crazy. Truthfully, I still don't know what I want to be. I don't have money either, and i know the schooling alone will require loans, financial aid, and all the help I get. I guess my question is. Is it worth it? What are your thoughts on architecture? I want to live a life where money isn't a question. Money is a huge motivation for me. I want to know my future family will always be taken care of. But don't get me wrong, i love design and i even love buildings. Just, i don't know, share some thoughts. Thanks for all your help in advance :)

  I got into architecture in high school and even interned for a large company. It is a lot of work. As a student in college, I hear how architecture majors put in countless hours working on projects, often pulling all nighters and more work compared to business/engineering majors. It is an awesome career choice, and many architects I've met enjoyed their job. But the job out look is becoming another problem. It is not as bright. I suggest trying a few classes to find if it is worth it. Requirements are not just creativity, but learning to demonstrate that creativity via your art work. If you are a more logical and analytical person, there are much more career options with brighter futures.
