How are the classes at job corps?

Do I go to Job Corps or take G.E.D classes?

  • So my mom found out that i smoked weed outside at lunch with friends. She unenrolled me from school and is currently kicking me out. Im in Texas, but she is sending me back to Detroit with the rest of my family(and my dad), or to live in California with my sisters. I have until this Thursday until she purchases my plane ticket. Less than 3 weeks ago I was offered to go get my GED so I could graduate on time and be finished with school., but I decided to stick it out in high school... Now my eldest sister has suggested that I come out to San Jose California where she resides, and join into Job Corps which i know is strict but helpful. But in the end if this is just going to help me get a G.E.D, shouldn't I just go and take GED classes instead? Wouldn't this eliminate any extra struggles and waste time? Im trying to get this over with as it is. Also I lived in Detroit basically all my life so I know going back there leads to minimal opportunity even though my family my brother and girlfriend still lives there. Im confused and I am at a crossroad in my life not knowing what route I should take. I am 18 years old with only 15 1/2 High School credits due to unstable situations. I started working so hard in school and now im being kicked out of the house. Im tired of always stressing. I just want to start my life, get a job, be finished with High School and go to a College. I would love to hear a genuine answer from someone who knows a better route for me. Someone Please give me advice., Someone who has the Experience. Thank you.

  • Answer:

I know how you feel about wanting to start your life already. But in order to start your life you need to be patient and work on getting your life started. Job Corps is a great opportunity. If you were to get your GED without Job Corps you would have to pay for it but if you went through Job Corps to get your GED they would pay for it. Or it might just depend on the center you go to. But at the center I go to they pay for it. So It's not a waste of time. But do whatever you feel is right. Sometimes the easier, faster way isn't the best way, sometimes It's the harder longer way that will set you free. Good luck!
