Essay writing tips (quickness, fluency, writing well)?

• tomorrow i'm taking the capt, and the first section i'm doing is writing. we read two articles about the topic we are writing on, pick a side, and argue why that side is better. can you give me some tips on how to speed up my writing while still writing fluently and well? i tend to write too much and i end up not finishing in time. any tips that have to do with writing well and writing fast, reading articles fast, or any writing tips at all would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

  when you become overly wordy, its a good time to start visualizing how what you've written would sound if it were a speech... wordiness comes up when you first start out writing like your inner mind thinks, in seemingly disjointed thoughts, like ghosts whispering tips in both ears...then you look at that, and decide you need to explain more, cuz people aren't as smart as you, to figure it out from your cryptic message.. Always imagine you have one phone call...and you need to get all the facts in that one call, to get out of who knows where...newspaper journalists are trained to condense their rhetoric to pertinent facts, and present a clear and complete picture in an economy of space and words. essays are usually for particular audiences, so you must play to them...write for the eyes you imagine will be reading it....if you were writing about The Three Bears, it would read a lot differently for kindergarteners that it would for a sociology professor.
