What's the best way to begin learning how to make a violin?

• I've been playing the violin for four months. I love it. My mom got me my first violin for $100. Needless to say it completely fell apart. My violin teacher let me borrow her worst violin without charge, but I finally have the opportunity to switch my violin teacher to someone I've really admired and respected, but without my current violin teacher, I have no violin. Why not just buy another? because we're in financial crisis right now and I know my mom will try to find the cheapest deal off Craig's list. If I have to use a cheap violin I want to make it myself. I have PLENTY of access to all kinds of wood for either free or a big discount. I also know of a luthier who I'm sure would be willing to help me out, but he doesn't have time to teach me. He already has violin students and is, of course, making his own violins. I have had some carving experience in art very recently. In fact, I'm still working on the piece. Other than that, I haven't got much of an idea. If anyone can help me get started, I would greatly appreciate it. Tips, advice, websites, even classes I can take ( I live in Georgia). I graduate from highschool this May, and while I will be working for some extra money this summer, I will have loads of free time that I'd like to fill with a constructive project. This is really something I'd like to do so please help me out! thanks!

  as cool as it would be to make your own...it would be pretty much impossible for you to do so. Everything about those kind of instruments is so precise and exact there is no way a person who is untrained could do it. Hand made violins are sooooo expensive because they take soo much time and enrage to make. Why not work hard over the summer and put that money towards buying a new one...because really that is your only option
