  Each state approves it's own curriculum and some states require higher standards than others. Texas, where I am, is part of the no child left behind program, so they do everything they have to do to ensure each child graduates.Texas average sat score is 1003. Florida's school system is also part of that program, although their average sat scores are 998, putting them behind the nation's average score. North Carolina's average score was 1001, but has been slowing rising in the past few years showing they are improving their curriculum. And New York's average score is 992 and has been declining over the past few years. They are not part of the no child left behind programs.
