Where can I find my application status?

Can you call a college to find out the status of your application?

  • I applied to a school and i'm still waiting to hear from them. I was actually a student at this school and was in the program (that i'm trying to get into now) a few years ago, but had to reapply again to get back in since i've been away from there a few years now. I know someone else who applied to the same program and is still waiting too, so i guess they're still deciding, but i'm anxious to find out what's going on with my application, especially since i was in the program before. I know that won't make a difference in their decision, their decision'll be based on marks and my application, but i'm still wondering if i should call. Should i call to find out? Or should i wait? Will calling hurt or boost my chances of getting back in?

  • Answer:

Clearly there is nothing to stop you calling and asking about the progress of your application. Keep in mind that the College may have hundreds of applications and may not be prepared to provide an 'answering service' because they may not be prepared to pay for the services of an operator. They may receive many calls each day and have no budget to pay someone to sift through all the applications. That's all the negative news, however, if you decide to call be prepared to answer questions such as - spelling your name, providing your address and date of birth details and so on. Often, a polite request for information will help to secure the information you ask for. Best wishes.
