What is the format for a resume?

What's a good resume/cover letter format for an Entry Level Position.?

  • I'm trying to find a job working as a Secretary or a Receptionist, and since I only had little experience working as a receptionist, I'm wondering what would be a good format for a cover letter and a resume. I did some college courses to learn about the Microsoft Programs, and I can type 80 wpm. Could you give me tips on how I should do my cover letter and resume.

  • Answer:

As an entry-level applicant you are limited as you don't have a professional experience. So the best way is to remind all the activities you have ever taken and state all the skills and responsibilities you obtain. If you have organized some parties or meeting - state that you have organizational skills and what the success of the meeting/party was, if the people were satisfied, with what. You should have some presentation or tutoring (helping other with issues) skills. Just look at your life and think about your achievement.Your typing speed and awareness of Microsoft Programs should be mentioned too.

You can always research similar resumes and see what your competitors are doing. This can tell you what you want and don't want to do. Just make sure your resume stands out and is not a "cookie cutter" resume. A great place to get information is from job descriptions in which you are interested.
