Is it a good idea to delay one's graduation to get a better GPA?

A higher GPA only really matters as far as getting into a good university (if it's your high school GPA) or graduate school (for your university GPA). So if that's your reason, and you believe that you can improve it enough to REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE in your prospects, then ... maybe. GPA, however, is almost completely irrelevant to getting your first job after you graduate. And after you have gotten your first job, GPA becomes COMPLETELY irrelevant to getting subsequent jobs. So keep that in mind. Your time is probably a more valuable commodity than a few extra tenths of a point on your GPA. So my basic answer to your question is: it depends on your reasons. But probably you should not do it.

I think its a genius idea. There are some people that say your gpa isnt relevant in getting a job but thats not true. I was always told if there are two people going up for the same job after the status of the school is looked at the gpa is and if you two are both from the same school and they had to choose between the student with a 3.0 or 3.7 its a no brainer. I have a friend who is a college senior and he told me he tried to apply for one job but they told him for him to even qualify for the position he had to have a 3.5
