Effective and fun ways to study.?

  • What are some effective and fun ways to study. I find myself to have zero motivation and a lack of concentration when trying to study, which proves to be highly ineffective. I always have the suggestion of rewriting notes, but I find that it does nothing for me. Is it possible to have a more interactive and better way to keep important details IN YOUR BRAIN!?!?! Thanks :)

  • Answer:

Write notes to make sure you're processing all of the information you've read. Personally, I like writing notes, as I read to make sure I keep track. Use highlighters! Try drawing things to help you understand, if you like art. Usually, visualizing something and using the highlighters, will help you have the fun you're looking for and still see the macroscopic details of what you're studying. Read your text out loud and talk to yourself (sounds silly, but hearing the info reinforces it). You can try some funny accents while you're at it, but don't get too caught up. Try making up mnemonic devices for sure, e.g. Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally (favorite, old, and classic, right?) You can use your imaginative and creative side to come up with some clever ways to remember things... Finally, make sure to find a spot where you can concentrate. Try studying outside or you can try studying at a library...a book store....a new spot you haven't explored at your residence. Reviewing notes is nothing without reading your textbook!!!! It will be boring unless you read beyond the scope of what took place in your class. Read your text for anything that intrigues you, e.g. featured sections with something of your interest. Keep flipping pages in your book and find something that draws you in. Also, be sure to REWRITE your in class-notes. Reviewing is nothing without rewriting. It's annoying, but it will sink in and when you rewrite it, organize the info in a way that you can understand it. Put EVERYTHING in your own words. Education is getting a BIG concept and breaking it down in a way that you can best understand and utilize it. Maybe you don't enjoy the subects you're taking? Also, try Googling various concepts. Maybe you'll find something on the World Wide Web interesting. Also, Youtube some of your topics you need to study- perhaps seeing a video will help.' Some people concentrate better with music on the background while studying. Mozart music is highly reccommended by most. Classical music is light, too. If music distracts you, don't listen to it. Also, maybe you have other things on your mind while you are studying. Take 5 minutes to write everything on your mind before studying, so you can let it all out... Study for 2 hours, then take a 30 minute break to refresh yourself. Get a proper 7-8 hr. rest to make sure you process all of the info you study.
