Have you taken the GED test?

  • Did you pass? If not how many times did it take until you did? What was the hardest section for you? Did you study for it prior to taking it? And what was your essay about? How long do you get for it and what are the requirements?

    I took it, and got over 600 on each section. I don't think it is pass or fail, but over 600 was fine for me. I guess quantitative was hardest for me, but most people find verbal the hardest. I studied a couple of cheap GED books and took practice tests. I didn't have to do an essay, I took it before that was mandatory.

Yes and I did pass, the hardest for me was the math, but it was in school also..so. I actually had to go through a short -maybe two weeks- brush up course where they pre-tested me, found my weakness and worked on them until the day of my test. As for the essay, I can't say that I particularly remember one, but English and Literature were my strong points so I probably didn't sweat it. I really think it is great for you to try to better yourself by getting your GED, I know it made me more proud and confident about myself. You won't regret it, you'll only regret it if you don't try. Best of luck to you, anyone willing to try gets an A in my book. So please don't give up and be sure to follow it through, you'll be so glad that you did.

State of Michigan requires that you have 15 logged study hours before you are eligible to take the test for free, so I studied/showed up to class for my 15 hours passed my pretests and then my tests the first time, It wasnt difficult at all. My hardest section was Math My husband had a really hard time with the English portion and had to retake that part 3 times before he passed but had to trouble with the rest of it. Each test has its own time limit and its generally more then enough time and you do not have to take all of the tests at the same time.
