Is abstract knowledge incompatible with literal memorization?

How can I improve my study habits and knowledge?

  • Well my study habits aren't 100% based on my homework, most of the time I get bored and can't even go on with what I'm doing. For example like reading my AP Bio book. I read about half of the chapter I am on and then after that, I leave and get on the computer. Also, I'd like to increase my knowledge because in school, I make A's and B's but i don't really feel that I earned that grade. To my knowledge, I get A's and B's because of just memorization. I don't just want to memorize what I work in school, I want to learn it. It'd be kind to receive help. - Thank You

In terms of study habits, I would truly recommend exercise. Before starting my exams I began working out daily. This got rid of a lot of stress and distraction that meant when getting down to work I was able to concentrate 100%. Secondly, try to immerse yourself in the subjects you are learning. Go the extra mile by reading outside the recourses you are given to broaden your mind and find interesting factors. It's great you are getting good grades though! However once you begin to reach further education getting good grades is not about memorisation but depth of knowledge. Try to adapt those skills now and you'll fly through the future!
