How could I write my objective for my resume properly?

Help me write a good resume objective? Tips please?

  • Objective: To gain knowledge of day to day work of a business, and gain experience through a part time job. This is my resume's objective currently, and it sucks. I'm applying for a retail job, and haven't had much experience in working, I want them to know that I would really like this job for the encounters I'll make, people I'll help and different types of fashion I'll see, and just for the overall experience of it all. But I'm also VERY inexperienced in resume writing. :( How can I fix this so the message comes across clearer?

  • Answer:

You've got the right idea, but you just need to be a little more specific. First, find out what skills the job requires and try to word it like that. For example: 1. Gain skills in interacting with people; 2. Understand inventory and pricing; 3. Learn skills in merchandising and display: 4.Tackling shoplifters as they leave the store. Ok, get the idea? Just do a little research of what it takes to do the job and list those as objectives. I have a feeling you'll do a great job with this. Enjoy!
