How to get current month and year in jquery?

Can an English teacher get a full time position at a school, or is it strictly 6 month and 1 year contracts?

  • I was curious about pursuing a teaching job overseas, and have read that many schools offer only 6 month or 1 year contracts based teaching for a semester or for a year. Do most schools give you an option to work there full time for the length of your career? It would seem pretty frustrating and nerve racking having to find a job every year once the school term ended. Also I have a few countries in mind that I would like to teach in (I'll list them below) are any better than another when it comes to making a living teaching, saving money, and having a life outside of the classroom? I guess I should state that I am a Caucasian American male, if that really matters... Here are the preferred countries I would like to teach in: 1. Japan 2. Thailand 3. China 4. Korea

  • Answer:

My son has taught in China for 4 years. He has been given one year contracts every year. That gives the school the option of letting you go, but it also gives you the option of going to a different school. He has never been offered a 6 month contract. He lives well but he does not save any money.

I have spent time in all four places and taught in two of those places. I know in Korea you'll have the option to renew your E2 visa for another year at the end of your contract. That will be less the hassle. In China, unlike the first time you wouldn't have to leave the country to process your Z visa, so that would also be less the hassle. Telling your employer that you want to spend two years or more there will also be a plus. Sign up on the home page below to find out about the money in Japan, China, and Korea. Mostly jobs are for the academic year. Depending on where you are this will be from September/October to June/July. Then you have summer off and start again. In a lot of cases (and unless you're a useless teacher) you'll be asked back for the following year and you'll continue at the school. It's rare to find contracts for more than 1 year though. In fact, if a new school asks you to sign a contract for more than this then be wary.
