Foreign language : grammar?

  • what problems could occur in the teaching of grammar in a foreign language class ? Just to mention : i'm a future french teacher to english and malay speaking teenagers. Thank you for your kind opinion.

  • Answer:

I think that terminology is problematic at times. Things that exist in one grammar-language but do not exist in the another. A lot of structured teaching can be problematic.

I'm not sure if this would answer your question but I think the problem with learning the grammar is that it's taught differently by every teacher. For example, I took a french class in junior high school and my teacher said, "Oh, you have to put the articles before this and that." But when I took french again in my last two year at senior high school before graduating, and I had a different teacher whose way of teaching the grammar is completely the opposite of what my teacher at junior high school taught me. It makes the language really confusing to learn.
