Can a teacher make one research paper decide whether we pass or fail a class?

  • A teacher has assigned our high school class a research paper that is the only major thing being graded next to a few quizzes and homework assignments, If one does not pass this then they fail, how can they do this?

    yeah, it's bullshit to do but they still do it anyway. teachers have their own grading system, so if they wanna make a paper that much, they can. tbh in my book, a paper shouldn't decide whether or not u learned. it's just a paper, some kids can write a fantastic paper and some can take a test and get a perfect score, people have their weaknesses and your teacher obviously doesn't understand that.
