What all courses do I have to take in college to become a English Language teacher?
-
I'm thinking hard about becoming a English Language teacher for South Korea. I was wondering what all I need to take to become one? I know you can really have a degree in anything. I know I shouldn't have to go to college to become an actual teacher because I'm only going to be a English Language teacher. Not a normal teacher. Also, how many years would I be in college?

Answer:
You need to reexamine what you have heard about being an English language teacher in any foreign country. Don’t wait to secure your documents! If you’re serious about teaching English in Korea then please start making preparations to secure your documents as soon as possible. The documents that are required for teaching in Korea are Korean Immigration requirements and not our actual companies. Meaning, even if you choose to accept a job through a different ESL recruiting company or agent, you will still be required to submit the same documentation for visa related purposes. The most important of these eight steps is a bachelors degree from an accredited college. That will take four years and you should be 17 to 18 years old at the time you start on your quest. Good luck. Step 1) You will need a valid passport from one of the following countries: US. It will have a 6 month limit, and must be cleared by the Korean government Step 2) You will need a Bachelors Degree or greater from an accredited university. It will take four to five years. Step3) You will need Officially Sealed Transcripts. Two sets are required for jobs in the private sector and 3 sets are required for jobs in the public sector. Step4) You will need a Criminal Background Check or a Criminal History Report. Step5) You will need six official passport photos to be sent to Korean Immigration, Step6) You will need an updated resume to include any work related experience. Step7) You will need legible photocopies asked for by many Korean consulates that will request photocopies of the documents you have forwarded to the Korean immigration office in South Korea. Step8) You will need recommendation letters (Public sector only)
