PLEASE HELP ME FIND A WAY TO KEEP MY JOB AT PUBLIC SCHOOL AND PRESENT TO BOARD BEST POSSIBLE WAY!!?
-
I was accused by a student or students of using fowl language in the classroom, and also telling a student to let me know if my boss spoke badly of me and to report back to me with the answer. The accusations are false, but apparently are in writing by student(s) and a parent, and I was put on administrative leave until the board meeting in which my supervisor and supervisor's supervisor will be presenting these false accusations to the board with reccomendation to fire me based on misconduct I have no way to prove my side is the truth and the only truth and I did not do anything wrong. However, neither does the administration or supervisor, because there is no proff, simply because it is false, truly. I refuse to claim I am perfect, but I am a professional person with a huge desire to help children and people of any kind. The only thing I can say is that my self-esteem is not the highest, but that does not effect my performance with children. When I do my job, I gain satisfaction of helping students in need of extra instruction and gain more confidence with that. When the certified teacher, immediate supervisor is around, my confidence goes out the window, if the children are not in the room. However, this person has a strong ego and feels the need to tell me all the time that I have no confidence, and need to gain some, but yet makes very hurtful comments to me (states I am an airhead, etc....all the time....and I do not find it funny, even though I try to pretend it does not bother me). I got a little off track, but I believe that the only reason that they are taking the word of a child over a grown, educated school employee is that my immediate supervisor has had a personal issue with my personality since the beginning, even though I have done all I can to help remedy the situation. I have even walked in on him/her speaking badly of me, more than once. I know in my heart that if there was not a conflict of personality, or that the supervisor simply means it when making statements to me as such of "you get under my skin", that not only my supervisor but the director would have done something to help remedy the situation or give me the benefit of the doubt, at the very least a second chance to prove myself. I NEED ADVICE. The only option I have to tell the truth is to appear at the local school board meeting and within 5 minutes try to prove I am telling the truth. Does anyone have any advice on this, or experience with this. If they fire me, not only will my reputation with the school and community be tainted, but I will be totally ineligible for unemployment benefits....which could put me on the street............and keep in mind everywhere within 50 miles of my home, in which I meet the qualifications. I am not above any employment, of any kind. This was just a job that I was able to feel positive about making a good difference in the life of students with special needs. I hate that it has to end this way, but ANY ADVICE ON HOW I SHOULD PRESENT MYSELF TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, the best way to give them reasonable doubt and possibly make them see the truth.......since I have higher status employees against me, shooting to prove me to have practiced misconduct and that there is no choice but to fire me for misconduct. PLEASE HELP!

Do the students and parents have a legitimate source of evidence that you really used fowl language in the classroom? If they don't then they can't really file a false complaint against you. If you don't have any evidence then ask to see there evidence their filing against you.

Well, just tell the board you were teaching them about birds and that is why you were using "fowl language".

Go in with your head held high and CONFIDENTLY tell the board the facts. JUST the immediate facts. Do not offer any details about your relationship with the other teacher(s) unless specifically asked - and then do not elaborate. Keep your comments short, sweet, and to the point. You don't want to come off as a whimpy whiner. It's too late now, but you should have reported that other teacher a long time ago. It is illegal for him/her to create a hostile work environment for you. If you had made the complaint, the school should have put you in a different classroom. Oh well, live and learn. Most important thing to remember - YOU WILL SURVIVE - no matter what decision the board makes - life goes on and so will you. Good luck.
