How hard is it to get financial aid?

How can i get financial Aid with my problem?

  • so im a college student in my second year and unemployed,all the semesters ive been to school i paid the thousands out of my pocket or with tax returns and when i had a part time job paying me minimum wage but now i don't have a job(currently looking for one),the financial aid office at my school told me i cannot receive aid because i am under 24 and i have to rely on my parents.my dad owes A lot of taxes and if he doesn't pay it i cant get financial Aid and he is a private contractor making barely any money.can some one please tell me what to do,i used all my tax return money on this last semester and i really don't want to miss another semester. please tell me how i can get a grant or what can i do to explain my financial situation to the financial aid people.i really want to finish college and better myself.do you think there is any possible way of me getting aid and how do i do this!

    You can appeal their decision but if you're living at home it's pretty hard to do.I think the best thing to do would be to go to a bank to get a student loan. I had the same problem and ended up getting a student line of credit, the only bad part is there's interest while you're in school (but it's a very small amount). You can still apply for scholarships through your institution and hope for something there as well.
