How does financial aid work?

How does Financial Aid Dismissal work?

  • I just realized that I was dismissed from financial aid for dropping 6 classes and receiving a "W" as a grade. I admit that for my first semester I was clueless on how college worked so I did drop out because I wasn't prepare at all, big mistake, I know. But I started doing good and dropped one class because I was having babysitting problems and now for the fall semester I don't have financial aid at all. How does the dismissal work? If I improve my grades for this semester will I get help for next semester? I did feel out an appeal paper but I want to know what happens next and how long will it take to know whether it was granted or denied. :(

  • Answer:

You have to be full time (over 12 hours) to keep your full aid. If you go under that, you will only get part. But if you go under half time (6 hours) you won't get anything. Make sure you keep at least 6 hours to receive financial aid at all.
