UCLA entrance question?
-
So im a sophmore and i did really bad this semester... Im hopefully gonna get a C in AP Bio (might end up with a D) a C in spanish, a C in Pre Calculus and the rest are B's. So thats basically 3 C's in realistic boundaries, not saying that i might be able to raise some C's to B's. If i get straight A's next semester and take 4 ap classes nxt yr and get straight A's both semester, ill end up having a GPA of around 4.0. Will i still have a chance of getting into UCLA? I am in honors english too so yah next year ill be going to AP eng and hopefully im also going to be joining varsity tennis this year (idk yet) I heard colleges like it when you raise your grade and no, i didnt lower my grades on purpose, i just got reaaaallly lazy this semester. Im confident i can get straight A's and a high SAT score. If this doesnt seem enough for UCLA can you guys recommend other good colleges? I want a college that has lots of koreans in it LOL :P (but also high ranked idk x.x is it asking too much?) Thanks for(if) you give positive feedback. I reallly want to go to UCLA as i dont really know much about colleges and where i would like to go.

Answer:
You need to learn to compute the UC-GPA. It covers the "A-G" classes in your sophomore and junior years and is only partially weighted by AP classes, so you will not attain a 4.0 UC-GPA. Look on the UC website to learn how to compute the UC-GPA. I do not know about Koreans in particular, but UC Irvine has 49% Asians and Pacific Islanders in its student body, which is higher than UCLA's 40%. Irvine admits 45% of applicants as opposed to 22% at UCLA and it is reasonably possible to be admitted to Irvine with less than a 3.75 UC-GPA, whereas admission with a GPA under 3.75 is very unlikely at UCLA.
