Transferring to an out of state college?

Question about transferring from Junior College to a state or UC?

  • I am not really proud of my high school GPA, which ended up being a 2.6 for all 4 years. I am now in my second year of junior college and so far, i've done really well. My question is will the college I apply to only look at my 2 years in junior college GPA or will they look at my high school GPA as well? I really hope they don't see my high school GPA. Thanks

  • Answer:

Once you have earned 60 CC credits your high school GPA is rarely looked at. California has a transfer system that all the CCs are in but the requirements are very stiff. http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/files/2010_tagmatrix_final4.pdf Here are the requirements for a typical University of California school to transfer: http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/pdf/UCSB%20Fall%202011-12%20TAG.pdf

They won't see your high school GPA they don't care. Even if they did, they would probably be very impressed at how much you've improved that is also something they look at
