What would be a good major for me? im lost...and i need to decide soon?
-
The major i choose will likely be my college choice which is either western washington or wsu. I like to talk to people and i don't mind speaking in public. I'm not good at math, im actually a year behind most people in math as im in pre calc as a senior in high school but so far i've been getting A's in math most of my years through high school but thats because i study hard. I'm not good at science either, i didn't do well in biology but i did decent in chemistry. I enjoy working with computers like special effects or 3d stuff. I was thinking about becoming a dentist or pharmacists but i hear you need to be good at math and science to become those, so i am discouraged by it now. I'm a decent writer. I also want a major that will help me in the future. Such as a decent salary and that it will be in demand in the future since the economy isnt doing to good. I was also thinking about becoming a physical therapist but i dont know what skills are required and if its going to be in demand. And im not sure if buisness will be a good major in terms of demand for the job

Answer:
Hi Hi, First I would not let the fact that you are in pre-calc deter you from taking math at university. I only took Algebra II in high school and went on to do the calculus sequence (I, II, & III) at university with very good grades. If I did not struggle with Advanced Calculus at university I probably would have gone on to get my degree in mathematics. So, I would not sell short your math skills because you are only in pre-calc. Second, I would not let the fact you are better in chemistry than biology deter you by making you think you are not good at science. When I was in high school I did quite well in chemistry because it was more math based and found biology for the most part boring except those parts that dealt with human biology. My own feeling is you lack self-confidence and you are comparing yourself to the ideal student instead of focusing on your abilities. Therefore, my suggestions below are based on what you state your strengths are and I discounted any parts that read as though you were downplaying your abilities. This means I feel you have the necessary math and science skills to do a lot more than you believe you are able to do. Finally, even though I make a few suggestions here, it will be your responsibility to check out the demand in your area and the pay. 1) Engineering - in particular electrical or chemical 2) Computer Science 3) MIS 4) Medical Technology 5) Nursing 6) Economics 7) Finance 8) Accounting / CPA 9) Pre-Dentistry 10) Pre-Physical Therapy

You should look into psychology. In my opinion, there is nothing more fascinating than the human mind and behavior. There is an expected 15% growth for clinical psychologists over the next decade, but other types of psychologists will likely be in demand as well. You could become a researcher, a professor, or work in private practice, in prisons, for the government, in school settings, in hospitals, etc. Oh, and if you aren't good in math or science then you don't really have to worry. While statistics are involved in psychology you won't have to focus heavily on them if you don't plan on doing research. Psychology can be viewed as a (social) science but if you get a B.A in psych instead of a B.S you won't have to deal with chemistry.
The choices you bring up , such as a pharmacist, dentist, physical therapist, and business, are nothing you claim to be interested in. What you said you are interested in is working with computers, special effects, or 3D things. You like writing. So how about journalism, or Electronic Media ? or computer programming? You can make a decent salary if you work hard for it. Goodluck!
