Which UC schools should I apply to?

Which UC schools shoud I apply to?

  • I'm from another country and I came to the US in 10th grade I am not in any sports, but I am the leaders of three clubs My SAT score is 1500 and I will take it again next month I want to become a teacher I'm considering UC Berkeley, LA, Irvine, Davis, and San Diego Which of those should I apply for? Which of those will I have a higher chance to get in? How high? Thanks

  • Answer:

To be honest, unless you have amazing grades, I don't think you will make it into any of the above mentioned. However, I would still apply to possibly all of the UC schools. As long as you have the money, all you have to do is check another box. There's no harm in trying.

Your best chance of the UCs is Irvine. What is your GPA? There is no way we can tell you for sure until you post your GPA.

I would go for Davis and San Diego, but the thing is, it doesn't look like you took many honors classes because your weighted and unweighted GPA look very similar. UCs like honors and AP classes. But if your school doesn't offer them, that's different. UCs know which schools offer what courses, so don't worry if that is the case. Your unweighted GPA is good. Your SAT score is average at best, which puts you well out of the running for Berkeley and LA (you need at least a 2000 to be considered remotely competitive for those). Even for Davis, the least rigorous school on your list, a 1500 SAT is too low. If you get 1800 next time around, Davis starts looking better and San Diego might be a possibiliy.
