What does a minor do for you?

Major in Child Psychology, what should I minor in?

  • I am majoring in Child Psychology, at my college this major already comes with a minor in Early Child Education. I am in my first semester and I already have 41 credit hours because of some college classes I took in high school and the classes I am taking now. I was wondering if I should double minor? I am wanting to work/eventually own a Child Psychology Center that works with Art Therapy, such as letting the children draw and put on plays to act out their problems. Should I just leave my major and minor as is or double minor in something, if so what? Also where my minor is in Early Child Education does that mean when I graduate that if I can't find a job in child psychology that I can work in a school system? Please give any advice that is helpful.

  • Answer:

If you are planing on owning a Child Psychololgy Center you will need a Phd in Psychology as you need that to be a Psychologist. You will not find a job in Child Psychology without an advanced degree.

Honestly, you probably won't find a job in either field. It sucks, but you should major in something where there's at least a slight demand for workers. (health field, marketing, etc.)

Don't listen to that guy. Do what you are doing. Don't take on anything else, because it will be too stressful. Do your VERY best in every class, and you will def find a job in time. Hard work reaps success. People who don't find jobs are lazy and aren't trying.
