Early Childhood Studies Dissertation.

Is it a good choice to specialize in Women's Studies if I am majoring in Childhood Education?

  • I am wondering if specializing in Women's Studies would be pointless, or if it would be better, in terms of finding a job, to study math or science. I am majoring in Childhood Education and I want to be an elementary school teacher, but I was looking at the Women's Studies courses on my prospective school's website and it sounds really cool.

  • Answer:

Women's Studies (aka Lesbian Studies) is highly politicized and worthless for making a living.

If you want to teach elementary school children, Women's Studies probably won't help that much. You really only teach that at the college level, or high school at the very youngest. But that doesn't mean you can't take Women's Studies courses. If you're interested in it, definitely go for it. But maybe specialize in something that might be more practical in your career.
