• A college is asking why I'm applying there. What do you think of this essay. It's supposed to be only 500 characters and about 100 words. "I chose to apply to ****** College because as the high school I currently go to challenges me academically, it does not give me the freedom to learn what I strive for on my own. We are limited to only what the school teaches us. To go to ******* would be like opening up my world to dozens of different life paths. Taking classes that interest me would help me make a more positive impact on my life after college. I hope the academic rigor ******* provides helps give the push I need to succeed."

• Answer:

  It sounds like a standard response to me. That's basically why a lot of people go to college. If you had to read these answers all day, wouldn't you be really bored by your essay? If you don't know what to say, try things like; This college appealed to me in particular because blah blah blah (something with how the campus looks, or the kind of students it attracts, or the organizations you want to get involved in, etc. Pick out something the college has to offer.)
