College prep vs. honors and college prep vs. AP?

Got a c in AP Calculus AB and I'm stressing out!!!! What are my chances?

  • I am a senior and Enloe High School. My school has some of the hardest teachers around. I am of Indian descent. My unweighted GPA is a 3.77 My weighted GPA is a 4.68 My school also has a scale that gives APs 6 points and Honors 5 and Standard 4: 5.13 I'm not the greatest at math. So here are my grades till now. Freshmen year Biology (Honors)~A Spanish 3 (Honors)~B English 1 (Honors)~A Civics & Economics (Honors)~A Chemistry (Honors)~A Pre-Calculus (Honors)~B Healthful Living (Mandatory to Graduate and it's standard)~A Sophomore year AP Calculus AB~C AP Calculus BC~A AP Environmental Science~A Spanish 4 (Honors)~B Anatomy & Physiology (Honors)~A Medical Science 1 (Standard)~A English 2 (Honors)~A AP World History~A Junior Year Calculus 3~A Differential Equations~A AP US History~A AP Chemistry~A AP Physics C~A Medical Science 2 (Honors)~A AP English Language and Composition~A Senior Year (Semester Grades) AP Statistics~A AP Biology~A AP English Literature and Composition~A AP European History~A Advanced Health Studies (Honors)~A Higher Level Physics (college professor is brought in)~A I took the SAT twice and my highest score was a 2300 My highest ACT score was a 34 (might take it again) I got all 5s on my AP exams except on AP Language (I got a 4) All that I am worried about is my C in Calculus AB and how it will affect my application. I applied to Boston College, Georgetown, Boston University 7-year medical program and a few others.

  • Answer:

Stop stressing! You know why?? The past is the past. Colleges look at your grades holistically. As in, they don't zero out on one bad grade. Teacher recs, and ec's are equally important to them. Plus, your SAT score is amazing! The important thing is you tried with your grades, and it shows especially junior and senior yr. Colleges see that. You'll get in somewhere in your list for sure! And if you don't there's always other colleges with med programs that you might be interested in. Try not to freak out about anything college related, and go through the process smoothly! best of luck.
