University of Michigan?

What are the pros and cons for the University of Michigan and Michigan State University?

• I was accepted to both schools and i plan to go for elementary education. My family loves u of m and it is my favorite school. The only problem is that it doesn't have a Spanish or teaching English as a second language minor like i want, but Michigan State does...I hope an adviser at michigan will let me create my own minor and do spanish or teaching English as a second language. The only problem is that i don't know much about State because i've been a u of m girl all my life. Does anyone know what the pros and cons are for either school? also, has anyone been in the education school at either (i need more info about u of m's ed school) and has anyone at u of m ever created their own minor?

  I have experience with both schools; they have different personalities on many levels, but MSU has stronger elem ed program for undergrads. You should visit if possible. While it is nice that your family likes one school, it is important that YOU like where you are going and programs/majors available. (Families often like a school for reasons that have nothing to do with your interests, so it is helpful to sort out your own goals) If you cannot visit, talk by phone with department heads/advisors/students at both schools to learn more.
