What are you supposed to write in a college application essay?

Is it okay to cite other works in a college application essay?

It's not really for college, but my English teacher is having us practice, and our prompt is to choose a person (living, dead, or fictional) and write an essay about why we would like to interview them. I chose Hitler, but some of the information I want to use would have to be borrowed from other sources. Is it okay to do that for a college application essay, or is it supposed to come 100% from me?
Answer:

Use cited sources and don't be putting stuff like stupid myths like he was Jewish himself or had Jewish ancestry as it's not true.

Do not include material which has to be cited. Doing so is not within the format of an admission essay. I have studied Hitler in detail and it should be very possible to write your essay about him without having to use material which must be cited.
