    Philosophy with a concentration in almost anything would be of the greatest benefit though not, perhaps, a major that would immediately have much in the way of practical benefits, if that concerns you. However, "critical thinking" is a skill that should be developed by most college majors. If you're serious about improving your critical thinking abilities, then it's up to you to make the most of whatever major you choose.

Philosophy would be the only one on the list which would be of much benefit. I found history to be most helpful. History is all about the comparison of original source materials. HIstorians ask "why" more than any other scholars except economists and natural scientists.

Personally, i'd say philosophy would! And you would gain so many transferable skills in addition to critical theory/thinking. Pick whatever subject you can put up with for 3 years. Make sure you choose a subject that has the best, most realistic job prospects for you. The biggest mistake students make is choosing the wrong subject, or the wrong concentration within their subject. I found out recently that people who study subjects like politics or philosophy etc have great chances of getting jobs that are not related to their subjects. This is due to the skills that these students aquire during their courses. Whereas a music technology student would have a narrower career opportunity range... because technically, they can only do music related jobs, not as many transferable skills. Hope this helps!
