I want to go to med school.

How is USMA for undergrad if i want to go into med school?

  • I was thinking of applying to US Military Academy. I want to major in Biomedical Engineering for undergrad and then eventually go to med school. Would USMA be a good idea? and if i am focusing on the academic portion, do i have to go through military training?? i actually don't want to go in the military but i have my reasons for applying. Also would it look good on job applications if i graduate from USMA? Please let me know anything you know about the academy (i.e. Dorm life, academic opportunities, drafting, discipline etc.)

  • Answer:

Although I did not go to USMA, I have a friend who went there and, this I can tell you. USU has a great med school (http://www.usuhs.mil/) and it's free (though you need to serve certain years). BENG is a good major for med school. And WestPoint is considered very respectful university and it will look wonderful after you graduate from there. Most likely you have to go through basic training even you are on academic path. It won't be that bad, so don't worry.
