How did you get into an ivy league school?

How to get in any ivy league school?

  • i've asked this question before but i was hoping to find a more updated and descriptive answer. I've been reading numerous Q&A's here on Y!A but they're all from 3-4 years ago. Standards change and I'm going to be a junior this upcoming school year so I was wondering what your recommendations are. If any of you have been accepted recently, your stories/stats would be highly appreciated! Thank you ! <3

  • Answer:

I'll keep this answer short and sweet because there are two things you need to do to get a guaranteed spot in an Ivy League. 1. Have good grades and extracurriculars (that you LIKE, none that are "resume buffers") and a good application. 2. Be goddamn lucky. The application process for any college is a CRAPSHOOT. Schools like Harvard get 20,000 perfect SAT scores and can only take in 2000. That's luck for you, not skill alone.

You're not going to make it. Why? Because you have no interest in the actual schools. You just want to go there for the prestige. If you had a legitimate interest in the Ivy Leagues (something besides "I heard it's a really good school"), you would know which specific ones you're interested in. The Ivy League schools are not created equally.

I was accepted to an Ivy League school twenty years ago. The standards are pretty much the same, natch. You don't like my answer? You have plenty of room to do things to yourself that may be more satisfying.
