What are jobs you can get with a political science degree?

What jobs could you get with a science degree?

  • What I mean is, a general science degree? I love science but can't come up with a good specific career that I would like. My cousin is going for a general science degree, but she is in her first year. What jobs could she get with an associates? Bacheolors? etc Thanks!!

  • Answer:

The only thing a general science associate's degree would be useful for is transferring to a 4-year school to get a bachelor's in some science field. The only thing a bachelor's in general science would be useful for is teaching at the high school level. Graduate-level science programs will expect a lot of upper-level science classes, which you won't have time to take when you're studying multiple branches of science.

There is no such thing as a B.A. in science. There is a B.Ed. in Science (Bachelor of Science Education), or there are B.S. degrees in specific science areas - biology, chemistry, zoology, biochemistry, physics, etc., etc., etc. If you can find a school which offers a general B.S. degree, it would be just that, BS.

Any reason Monster.com can't supply you with ideas? Getting a general science degree is better than getting a general liberal arts degree. Getting an associates degree will qualify you for entry level clerical positions. Getting a bachelors in General Science *might* allow you to get a job as a quality control technician. It is unwise to go into 4 years of college and have almost nothing to show for it. You claim to "love science". I have no idea what that means. Obviously if you meant that you love equally every sub-discipline, then we'd know you are lying since you can't possibly have significant experience with more than a couple. Saying you "love science" is like saying you "love men". WTF does it mean? Becoming an adult means, among other things, discovering that you can't have it all. You have to make choices. Getting a degree in "general science" is IMHO a bad idea. It prepares you for *nothing*. If you are wildly enthusiastic about molecules, genes and quarks then you need to evaluate your aptitude for math and detail work. You need both the right skill set and the enthusiasm for whatever you ultimately choose. A BS in Physics. Small demand A BS in Chemistry. Technician A BS in Biology. Technician. Way more graduates than jobs. If you want to work in sales, a technical bachelors would be a good credential to have.
