What is a good job for a college freshmen?

Do you think I'll get into a good college?

  • I'm almost done with my sophomore year. I know I might be a little early. I'm still going to apply my senior year. I just want to know if I'm on the right track. Grades: I get really really good grades. And since I want to go into the medical field I make sure my math and science grades are really good. My accumulative GPA right now is a 98. I received a US national honors award. And I'm also in the yearbook for that. I haven't taken my SAT's but I'm taking the Pre-SAT's next year and my SAT's my senior year. I'll be taking honor classes next year and I'm planning on taking some AP classes my senior year. Community Service: That's all going to be done next year. As my graduation project I'm going to volunteer at my local hospital. I think that will look good towards my interest in the medical field. And my dad's a pastor so I spend most of my time in church. Mostly all of it. I go to church 3 days a week. Sometimes more when I work with the youth group. We also take trips like to camp and other church related activities. Extra-Curriculars/Electives: I've had a lot of electives and I'm going to have more. I'm going to have my 3 years in language soon. In my freshmen year I was in CHOW (Changing Our World) It was stuff about helping the environment, raising money for cancer, etc. I was also in Walking Club (I know it sounds dumb.. But it was for a good cause) We walked 3 miles every Thursday and planned a day to walk and raise money for breast cancer. I was also in the Reading Olympics. Which was a club where you read certain books and competed against other schools in the same state. My sophomore year I haven't been able to join any extra-curriculars since I've been working more in church. But I will be getting a job sometime this april. Work: I'll be getting one sometime this April Do you think I'm on the right track.. I want to get into a really good college.. Not Ivy League. Just something good. I've been thinking about University of Central Florida and University of Miami (I want to study in Florida). Or maybe Montclair State University. Please let me know. And please tell me what I should do to make it better if needed. Thanks! :)

  • Answer:

You're on the right track. I wouldn't worry too much about what will look good to med schools as they focus more on the collegiate years. Other than that, good job so far. One question though, Why take the PSAT junior year? Students usually take it their sophomore year and the SAT their junior.

You're looking good so far. Enroll in IB (International Baccalaureate). This is the best available preparation for selective colleges.
