  • my boyfriend has a gpa of 3.95 he just got the letter that he did not get accepted to Cornell University i dont understand why? he is really smart, all his professors in elmira college said he will definitely get in without a doubt, so why did this happen? what is wrong with the university? he went to villanova university, why cant he get in Cornell University? at the same time this situations makes me doubt God because since he filled out the application he has been fasting, & prayer because this is something God gave him a vision of and a desire he put in his heart so why??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

College admissions look at more than just the GPA. You also need a high SAT or ACT score. There are other factors too. If the major he applied under is impacted, he would have faced hard competition. There were probably other students with a higher GPA and test scores that were admitted over him and they have only a limited number of slots. And hust because he didn't get into the college of his choice doesn't mean that God might not have other plans for him.

Maybe he did it because he'll get more success somewhere else.

Sometimes God makes a person fail to learn a lesson. We fall so that we can learn how to get up, dust ourselves off and persevere. This is a life lesson for your boyfriend. I'm in college athlete and have a GPA of 4.0 but haven't yet been rejected from a college, but I know a lot about rejection in other regards. Colleges don't just look at what your GPA and test scores are, they look at character as well, especially the Ivy League schools. However, prayer is a great thing, maybe it just wasn't in God's plan that he go to Cornell the first time around. Remember, when one door closes, another door opens. Good luck to you and your boyfriend in your educational endeavors, don't blame God for this, instead embrace it and learn from the experience.

No student should only apply to one school or even set their heart on one school. Cornell gets thousands of top notch applications from HS students. Not all of them can get admitted. God gives us the strength to get through. He didn't make Cornell's admissions deny any student
