How to prepare for college?

  • I am currently a junior in high school and I feel its time that I start thinking about college, such as where I want to go, what I want to do, and what I want to do after college. At this point in time, I have no idea what I want to do, and I don't feel comfortable with waiting for something to come to me, because I do not want to be a senior about to go to college with the same questions. I've tried talking to some counselors about some of these questions, but they don't seem very helpful. I do know that I don't want to go to a junior college, but rather a major university after high school. Any helpful suggestions would be very appreciated.

  • Answer:

Figure out what you're interested in, then search on Google for local colleges/university. When I was in high school we had postings for open houses, so each weekend I would go with some friends to see what the colleges were like and asked questions about the programs. The websites should give a lot of information as well! Good luck!

I think collegeboard.com and princetonreview.com can help you with your questions. Collegeboard has this thing where you choose what you want in a college (location, student population, what sports/majors are offered, etc.), and princetonreview.com has a career quiz/test which tells you how much they earn and what the job is like. Other things you can just google. Do you have certain aspirations or far-fetched dreams? Maybe you can draw some inspiration from that.
