Can a physician assistant become a physician?

You can definitely become a physician if you are a physician assistant. But: 1) You will have little or no advantage over other medical school candidates with respect for getting in. Of course, your experience with the basic sciences, and in medicine as a PA will help you navigate your premedical courses. 2) There is (as of this writing) no PA to MD bridge program. People have talked about it for years, but it hasn't happened. Don't count on this. In other words, don't go to PA school because you think it will make it easier to become a physician. As in number 1 above, it won't. 3) Your asking this question leads me to believe that you are considering becoming a PA to get you into PA school. But PAs aren't baby doctors. They don't become PAs because they want to be physicians - they become PAs because they want to be PAs. If you doubt this, then I highly encourage you to spend some time shadowing a PA.
