How much theater experience will be needed for college?

Okay so i am thinking about doing musical theater in college, which is in a long time, any who if i was to just be in school productions, do you think that would be enough theater experience for college, also is any prior experience needed or can you just have had a acting coach/lesson, just curious!! In the US- You will need to audition for the theater department at college to major or minor in musical theater. You will be required to dance, sing and act for a musical theater audition. With out the talent and training you won't get in. Many student have just been in theater in HS. But if your HS isn't strong in the arts, then you may not have the training needed to make it through a college audition. You will need to get into the college academically too.
