Grades to get into a good college?

Do you have to have high grades to get into a good college?

  • My grades are fairly average and always have been, is it possible to get into a good college with just passing grades? I hear it takes alot more than just grades to get into a good college.

    In the US we have about 3000 colleges, and most are "good". In HS a passing grade is a D. You are not getting into college with a D average. Even a C average of a 2.0 GPA isn't going to get you into a four year college. colleges will want your unweighted cumulative GPA from beginning of freshman year to end of junior year. Once accepted it will be on the contingency of your senior transcripts. Your ACT/SAT scores play a big part of your application. college will look at what classes you took, at what level (general/honors/AP) and what grade you got. They will want a college essay from you and letters of recommendation-2 from core subject teachers. start doing research into colleges. go on several college web sites and read requirements. start going on college visits. meet with admissions and take a tour of the campus

usually in the UK you would need at least 5 A to C's at GCSE to get into a 'good college & course' Some colleges will help you obtain better grades whilst on a course if you didn't get a A, B or C in maths and english. If you visit the colleges website you want to go to and look at the courses you are interested in they should give some indication of what grades are required for each course

It depends what you think a good college is. Don't slack and then be surprised when Harvard Does not return your calls. If average and unremarkable is what you are airing for try a vocational Training program.
