Which is the best Journalism school?

What are the best classes for a prospective journalism major to take in high school?

  • I'm a junior in high school, and I would like to do journalism in college, specifically broadcast journalism. What are the best classes to take in my senior year to prepare me for that?

  • Answer:

You want to focus on writing, and on the culture and world around you, so take English (probably required anyway), plus history, or political science, or things like that - classes that expose you to the world's cultures, history, political systems, etc. In addition, if your school has a newspaper, join up and write. If they do tv news, join up. If they do any tv work at all, join that. In addition, if you have a small, local, weekly type paper, contact them and see if they'd be willing to either let you do an internship with them while you're still in HS, or else let you do some writing - for example, cover your HS's team sports for them.

Just take Journalism and work on the school paper. That's about it... if you have an audio/visual club at school you can join that, but really your major is so easy all you need is a diploma! Good luck to you.
