How to sponsor a child program?

What's a good organization through which to sponsor a child?

• Im interesting in sponsoring a child in a third world country and i'm looking for the perfect organization to do it through. First of all, i want to sponsor a single child and have some sort of direct relationship with them, rather than just donate to a generic program. Second, i want 100% or almost 100% of my money to go straight to the program rather than just the minimum 80%. Third of all, i want this organization to be secular; because all my dollars should go food, water, and shelter, and not to teaching children about religion. Also, nothing too expensive, i'm 18 and not rich... yet. That's it. Please recommend a good organization. And please no comments about children in the U.S who are also suffering (a dollar goes a lot further in Africa than it does in Detroit). Thanks

  go to www.worldvision.org. My youth group went to this christian conference 2 years ago and they told stories about these kids during the concert, and you could sponsor a child for $30 a month. We actually picked one child to sponser, and you can send the them letters. I'm pretty sure your money goes mostly toward clothes, food, and toys.
