What is the absolute best school to go to for advertising?

What should I major in? What School should i go to?

  • I was registered at Columbia College of Chicago for Marketing Communications I have an Associates degree in graphic design but i do not work in that field Im not sure if I should go to UIC for teaching or business administration I am 22 years old and have been in and out of colleges for majors all over the place from PTA to teacher to Advertising. I dropped my classes last minute for this spring semester at Columbia because I was started realizing I don't need to go to columbia and spend all that money when i'm really not passionate about marketing. Im not sure exactly what i'm passionate in yet. I am working part time, i do not get any financial aid so I need to be sure that i'm making the right decision when it comes to school since im paying it all out of pocket. I did take a break last year to see if I could focus on getting a good paying job but that didnt work I just ended up wasting more time. I need to find a good job by the time I reach 25 because I have a chronic illness and I will be off my parents insurance and my medicine is alot of money. That is why im really feeling the pressure and feel like i need to make a decision fast. I just feel like alot of people I know with Bachelors degrees in fields like business, art, or psychology I dont see them getting good jobs. The classes that I do best in are design, humanities, literature so im not really sure. I just wanted a job where I can make a difference and help someone everyday and love my job Im really not sure. Any advice will help please, Thank You!

  • Answer:

Most of the jobs that both 1) pay very well and 2) involve helping people directly on a daily base require a graduate level degree, e.g. JD, MD, DO, DDS, Ph.D. in psychology, etc. The jobs that require only a bachelor's degree that also pay well require a lot of math (engineering, computer science, financial planning, etc.). I don't know what the job prospects would be like, but have you considered Arts Management? Also, business majors may not have good jobs at the entry level, but if they are good at what they do they will be promoted.

Your best bet would be to go into the medical field so either a nurse or a pharmacist. you can go to a technical college for 1 year and enter in a bridge program for 2 years instead of 6.

I don't think you should be asking anyone that except yourself.
