What are some careers in art?

What careers can I get into with interest in art?

  • Ever since I could pick up a crayon I have been a great artist. I've always loved it and I am very creative. I do everything from paper and pencil, painting, photography, computer programs and photo editing and designing, pretty much everything. I also used to play instruments and was very good at that too, so I consider myself an all-around artist... I have researched careers that have to do with architecture and graphic designing or photography but I am discouraged when I learned they don't have very high salaries at all. So I decided I would take my other talents and interests such as science and biology and make a career out of that, which I know will make hundreds of thousands of dollars. But I feel I would be alot more successfull and happy in a career that has to do with art. -What careers can I look into that have to do with art and the topics I explained above? -Is there a possibility that I can end up making really good money and I mean $90,000+/year? Suggestions?

  • Answer:

If you are an artist sky is the limit $90,000/- is a paltry amount. With your art you can live no doubt, prosper if you are great. No subject will assure you any guaranty. It is you who makes a difference. Take it up what you like and pursue it, one day you will become billionaire. Best wishes

Architects can actually make a great deal of money. If you truly want to do something artistic and are taking money into considering, architecture is your best bet. You could also look into advertising. Most careers in art do not make a lot of money. However, if you are very good at what you do and work extremely hard at it, you can make a pretty good amount of money (and this is, really, true in any job.) Just keep in mind that, especially with art careers, it would be extremely rare to have a starting salary of anything close to $90,000--you work up to that eventually. Some possibilities: Interior designer Animato/cartoonist (you would need to work at a large company, like Pixar, to make a good amount of money) Curator at a museum Film editor or director Furniture designer Illustrator for books, especially medical and scientific books Gallery owner

Have you considered becoming a plastic surgeon or an orthodontist? Art Director is one of the few well-paid careers in art, but you'd have to start out at lower job.

Video game design is red-hot right now. Game designers are falling all over themselves to hire new artistic talent. But you have to be intimately familiar with the current computer graphics programs used to produce such art. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/02/10-best-undergraduate-vid_n_829886.html You can check out schools using my web site https://sites.google.com/site/paul7collegeinfo/ Also Google the words "student reviews" and the name of the school. For-profit trade schools like Full Sail have their advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantages include you can't use a trade-school "degree" to go on for a Masters, and you usually can't transfer credits to a traditional college. The advantage of a trade school is that you get to focus completely on classes releveant to your career. You aren't forced to take a lot of "breath requirement" courses unrelated to your career. http://www.fullsail.com Be aware that there are several distinct parts to game design: the programming of the action of the game, the game artwork, and the game sound design. You would be interested in the artwork aspect. I strongly suspect you would be better off at an art institute than a traditional four-year college. It wouldn't cost you any less, but you would be better able to focus on your interests.
