Many colleges do permit this. In fact, it's exactly what my son's girlfriend is doing! She's even going for art ed! (Carrie, is that you?)

ABSOLUTELY! Just make sure that the 4-year institution you are considering of attending will accept the credits that you acquired (or will acquire) from the community college. Doing it this way is actually becoming more and more popular for most students, because the cost of going to a 4 year institution is fairly high these days. By doing this, you can save alot of money, but sometimes the only draw back is that it may take you a bit longer to graduate for your Bachelor's degree because you have to transfer from one school to another, which can take some time. But in most rare cases I've seen, it only took students an additional 8 months when they transfered from a COMM. college to a university. So they were only delayed 8 months upon graduation. I think you're making a good move here, if money is an issue. Good luck to you and just make sure that the 4 year institution will accept the credits you gained from the community college. Take care.
