How To Find Vacancies In Engineering Colleges?

Middle-ranked Civil Engineering Colleges HELP!!?

  • I want to major in Civil Engineering. I am currently in high school. I pretty much accepted the fact that I cannot get into the top civil engineering colleges b/c of my gpa. I've checked many ranks, but they don't go that far past the prestigous ones. So can someone help me find some schools that have a good civil engineering programs that I have a better chance getting into? Like "middle class"/"second division" (if you will) civil engineering programs that I should aim for? Some of the top C. Eng programs that I likely cannot get into: Berkely MIT Stanford U. Michigan U of I Cornell Texas at Austin Texas A&M Georgia Int Tech. UCLA Carnegie Mellon And don't say I shouldn't "give" up on those schools. And if I work harder blah blah blah. I am just trying to be realistic. I don't want to end up stuck in a situation where I can't get into any college b/c I applied for only top schools. Also, to clear things up...my gpa isn't bad...it is just not good enough for these schools.

  • Answer:

Really, you can do just as well with a civil engineering degree from your state university. To apply to a couple of them as a reach but it is good to see you are being realistic.

Any public college in your home state with an ABET accredited engineering program is fine.
