Double majoring in business management and political science?

Should I major in Business or Computer Science?

  • About me: Mid-twenties (verging on late), back in college studying to finish a first bachelors degree. I returned so I could: 1) Better my employment prospects 2) Increase my earning potential 3) Have a variety of different directions I can go with, jobs-wise I am not in school for personal enrichment and to just have a degree (if I were, I'd be majoring in music - which I will probably do in a few years!). I have worked dead-end jobs for awhile, mostly reception type of work. I have always made minimum wage. Of course I still want to do something I would like, and would be able to develop skills for. I have narrowed it down to Business Administration (can be different concentrations like Management, or Economics), and Computer Science. I have explored the studies for both a little bit, and they are fine. But which would be better for the things I described above? Which can I be more "creative" in? I mean creative in terms of solving-puzzles, coming up with solutions, envisioning a bigger-picture? I am a creator at heart. In my free-time I write, I play guitar, and I write songs. However, I also enjoy to problem solve, put the puzzle pieces together, and to figure things out. If you have heard of the Holland Code, I usually get some mixture of A, I and R (Artistic, Investigative, and Realistic). Would one major give me more employment opportunities over the other, or are they about the same?

  • Answer:

Depends on the school and your background right? But computer science, if you go through with all the programming, can be a fantastic creative outlet as well as job skill.

Other answers

Do a major in Computer Science. Choose MBA minors or do an MBA part-time after completion of your Computer Science course.

The question will be decided by how good you are with math. Computer Science is extremely theoretical and math-centric.
